Article 2. Solicitors and Peddlers

The practice of going in and upon private residences in the City of Florence by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited to do so by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of said private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise, and/or for the purpose of disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the same, is hereby declared to be a nuisance and unlawful. Provided, however, if the solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants or transient vendors of merchandise shall register his name and the company or organization he represents with the City Clerk and pay a license fee at the rate of Five Dollars ($5.00) per day or One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per month to the City Clerk, the City Clerk shall exempt said person from the application of this article.

Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this article shall upon conviction thereof be fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
