CHAPTER 14. TRAFFICCHAPTER 14. TRAFFIC\Article 2. Local Regulations

(a)   No trucks, trailers or any other vehicle weighing over 11,000 pounds shall be driven or pulled on any city street which is sealed except for the express purpose of loading or unloading its cargo; Provided, However, there is hereby established a truck route through the City of Florence as follows:

From the city limits at the south end of Main Street, north to Highway 50; also

5th Street from Barker Street, west to Highway 50; also

3rd Street from Main Street to Doyle Street: also

Doyle Street from 3rd Street to county road labeled 110th Street to Highway 77; also

Kimball Avenue from the county road labeled 110th Street to Highway 77.

(b)   Upon the arrest and conviction of anyone violating this section, he shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00.

(a)   Vehicles in excess of 11,000 pounds as described in Section 14-201 shall be permitted to park along the truck route as described in Section 14-201, as amended, for not more than 12 hours; but if, in the opinion of the Chief of Police, such parking is creating a unsafe condition of is a nuisance, said police chief or other police officer may direct such vehicle to be moved forthwith; the chief of police may place appropriate signs at any such location which restricts or prohibits such parking.

(b)   Every person convicted of a violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00.

(a)   It is hereby declared a traffic infraction for a driver of a motor vehicle to drive a motor vehicle across or over a street curb in the City of Florence, Kansas, unless he drives through or on a driveway approach or other curb cut across which traffic is intended.

(b)   Every person convicted of a violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than $10.00 nor more than $100.00.

It shall be unlawful for any persons to activate or engage, or to have activated or engaged, any compression release engine braking system in the city limits of the City of Florence, Kansas, unless such engine braking system is connected to a lawful muffler or sound-muffling system which is adequate to and does prevent the emission of noise which is substantially louder than normal and lawful engine operating noise. Violation of this chapter shall be punishable in addition to any violation of any other law, ordinance or regulation, governing lawful muffler or sound-muffling systems.
