A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF FLORENCE, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 14-205, PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT AND REMOVING LIMITATIONS ON RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CITY CLERK.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FLORENCE, KANSAS:

WHEREAS: The City of Florence, Kansas, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to and does exempt itself and make inapplicable to it the provisions of K.S.A. 14-205 which applies to this city, but is part of an enactment which does not apply uniformly to all cities, insofar as said statute requires that the City Clerk meet certain residency requirements.

WHEREAS: The Governing Body of the City of Florence, Kansas shall be qualified electors of said city.

WHEREAS: The City Clerk need not be a qualified elector of the City of Florence, Kansas, and may reside outside of the city limits of said city, but said officer must reside within a 15-mile radius of said city and must reside within Marion County, Kansas and be a qualified elector of Marion County, Kansas.
